Reason For Issuing Alert

Testing results showed that the concerned infant formula has low iodine content and could have potential adverse health effects on                    infants.

Action Taken by the                 Centre for Food Safety

- The CFS has informed the relevant importer of the test results and learnt that only one batch of products as indicated above has been                imported into Hong Kong. The importer has now stopped sale of the products concerned and initiated a product recall.

        - The CFS has also informed the New Zealand Consulate General of the test results for follow-up actions.

         - The CFS will continue to keep in view infant formulae available in the market and conduct test once products that have not been t                          are found.

Advice to the Trade

- Stop selling the concerned product.

Advice to Consumers

- Parents should stop feeding their babies with the concerned product and change to another brand of cow milk-based formula wit                      adequate iodine content.

        - Consumers may call the importer’s hotline: 3904 2888 for enquiries about recall arrangements.
