According to an analysis by Hortoinfo, last year, Spain exported 629.27 million kilos of tomatoes at an average price of € 1.75/kg, the highest price in the last ten years. However, between 2013 and 2022, Spain's tomato export volume fell by 38.71%.

Last year Germany was Spain's leading tomato buyer, as the country purchased 172.27 million kilos of Spanish tomatoes for 334.85 million euros and an average price of € 1.94/kg.

It was followed by France with 83.07 million kilos worth 123.26 million euros and an average price of € 1.48/kg.

The Netherlands ranked third with 77.1 million kilos worth 115.64 million euros and an average price of € 1.72/kg. The United Kingdom ranked fourth with 61.02 million kilos worth 124.12 million euros and an average price of € 2.03/kg, the highest average price among the largest importers of Spanish tomatoes in 2022.

In the last decade, the largest tomato-exporting province, Almeria, has experienced a 31.55% drop in volumes marketed.

In 2022, Almeria exported 382.53 million kilos of tomatoes (60.79% of the Spanish total) for 658.8 million euros and an average price of € 1.72/kg. Almeria sold 117.98 million kilos of tomatoes to Germany for 224.56 million euros, 51.33 million kilos to France for 76.06 million euros, and 38.3 million kilos to the Netherlands for 64.21 million euros.

Murcia was the second-biggest tomato exporting province, as in 2022, it exported 66.06 million kilos of tomatoes worth 109.93 million euros and an average price of € 1.66/kg.

Grenada ranked third after exporting 59.5 million kilos of tomatoes for 136.13 million euros and an average price of € 2.29/kg.
