Chile's 2018-2019 cherry export season will start on November 20, when exporters will ship the first cargo of this product in the Cochrane ship, of the ALX1 / AN1 / INCA service to Hong Kong. The shipment will be made in the Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso (TPS), concessionaire of Terminal 1 of Valparaíso, which in this cycle expects to mobilize more than 150,000 tons of this highly valued product in the Asian country, which represents an increase of 8.7% over the previous season.

The service, made up of Hapag Lloyd, ONE, HMM, and MSC, will transport cherries that will be unloaded in the Asian port to satisfy the great demand generated by the celebration of the Chinese New Year in February, which has given rise to an exclusive category for this product.

"There is a greater demand for cherries from Asia each year and we have prepared ourselves to meet this requirement and keep Valparaiso as one of the most competitive ports in the world. We have new first class infrastructure and equipment, and, most importantly, our workers are committed to safety and efficiency in the shipment of the fruit that our country exports," said Camilo Jobet, TPS commercial assistant manager.

Between November and the beginning of January 2019, ships for the exclusive transport of cherries will stop at the TPS, modifying their normal itinerary to sail directly from Valparaiso to Hong Kong to transport a total of 150,000 tons throughout the season.

Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso concentrates about one third of the total shipments of Chilean fruit.
