"Blackberries are still our most important product and this season is going well so far. Every season is different with new and different challenges every day. We've noticed an increased demand for our blackberries, which makes us proud as a company. The weather is always an issue and something we can´t control, however, we work hard since we have a commitment to quality, so we need to adjust in order to maintain our standards and satisfy the market needs”, states Antonio Pereyra from the Mexican berries producer and exporter, Harvest52.

Besides blackberries, the company H52 as well works with other berry varieties. “We started our strawberry season and we are having great advancements in our trials of new raspberry varieties. Hopefully, we can start with the commercial trials very soon. Blackberries continue to be our major product, but our main goal is to have production of the different berries all year-round.”

Antonio explains that the demand for Mexican berries in general has increased over the years. “This is one of the reasons that we have doubled our exports each season. Another factor is our commitment to food safety, quality and continuous improvement on cultivation techniques. We have noticed an exponential growth in interest in Mexican berries from the UK. As well, we see increased demand from Russia for example. We thrive to supply all countries with an interest in our berries.”

Most of the exports of H52 are to the United States. “This market is closer, and the demand is much higher compared to Europe. However, we are increasing our shipments to Europe and Asia, not just for blackberries, but also for strawberries and blueberries. We need to continue increasing our volumes to satisfy our current and future demands”.

“We are finishing new facilities this year and have different plans for expansion. The intention is to target new markets and continue developing our relationship with our clients. We reach a lot of markets globally, which is one of our main goals. We want to position H52 as a global brand and we are on the right path to achieve this”, concludes Antonio.
