The Hapag Lloyd, MSC, and Ocean Network Express shipping companies announced the expansion of their Asia-South America service. The companies will work together to optimize connections.

The new service, which will start operating the second week of December, will connect Asia with the east coast of South America, and will have stops at the main ports of Korea, China, Singapore, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and South Africa.

The rotation will be as follows: Pusan (South Korea), Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Yantian, Hong Kong (China), Singapore (Singapore), Santos, Paranagua, Navegantes (Brazil), Montevideo (Uruguay), Buenos Aires, Rio Grande (Argentina), Navegantes, Paranagua, Santos (Brazil), Coega (South Africa), Singapore (Singapore), Hong Kong (China), and Pusan (South Korea).

This will allow decreasing transit times by seven days, when compared to the current connection, and offer better entry coverage for South American ports.

Maritime transport is the main mode for the exchange of large volumes of merchandise at the international level, concentrating nearly 80% of the global traffic of goods. Today the main routes include the Straits of Malacca, the Suez Canal, the Panama Canal, and the Strait of Hormuz.
