On Monday, the National Association of Exporters of Citrus Juices (CitrusBR) stated that Brazilian exports of orange juice fell by 21% in volume and by 16% in revenue in the first four months of the 2018/19 harvest, i.e. from July to October.

The United States, which had boosted these sales in the past harvest, is now retreating: they bought 42% less, a total of 56.75 thousand tons, which collapsed income by 36%, to 107.8 millions of dollars. According to CitrusBR, this happened because Florida, the main producer in North America, increased the supply of juice by 71% in the current harvest.

Another factor behind the fall in product sales was the amount of stock that the international markets have. According to CitrusBR, in the previous harvest, industries took advantage of the supply there was and recomposed global stocks. The tanks were practically closed two harvests ago, in 2016/2017, with the low orange offer in Brazil (the state of S. Paulo, 11/26/18)
