In 2018, Kazakhstan's wheat exports to China tripled. Kazakhstan plans to increase wheat exports to 1 million tons per year in three years. It is currently negotiating with China on wheat import quotas from Kazakhstan.
Yi said that Kazakhstan had already achieved self-sufficiency in grain and flour. In 2018, the grain output of Kazakhstan reached 22.8 million tons. Besides meeting the domestic demand, some grain can be used for export. Last year, Kazakhstan exported 11.7 million tons of grain.
