A glance through the fPiel de Sapo melonruit trade will reveal that there is a weak market for Galia melons. The prices vary between 5.50 and 7 Euro at the various companies, but two weeks ago they were 12/13 Euro. At the moment the Galias are being imported from Guatemala and Costa Rica. They are also imported from Almeria, but traders indicated that the best Spanish Galias are from Murcia. The market for watermelons is also falling back with a current price level of 65 to 85 cents. More is asked for the seedless watermelons but it is expected that those prices will decrease under pressure from the Spanish supply.

The market for Cantaloupe melons on the other hand, is still good with prices around 8 Euro. The real winners among melons are the yellow and Piel de Sapo melons with a price level of 12-14.50 Euro and 13-14 Euro respectively. As the supply of yellow melons from Spain has been strongly reduced by the New Delhi virus and the Piel de Sapo's aren't arriving in large amounts yet, a good market is expected for the next while.

Citrus

The c
itrus market is persistently mediocre, grapefruit is going slightly better, and the lemon market is even good. If you have them, you can make up to 15 Euro for them. The limes are also on the rise. Previously, they were at 4 Euro, but now their prices have doubled. In the area of mandarin, the Argentinian Satsumas are hot (14-14.50 Euro. They are selling like hot cakes and are mainly bought by the Scandinavian countries. Other types of mandarins, like the Minneolas are not doing to well. Pomelos have a high price, up to 18-20 Euro is paid for the Vietnamese ones, but the purchasing price is also high.

The nectarines and peaches that arrived from Spain last week, produced good prices, but it is expected that the supply will increase strongly and the prices with decline in sync. The market for imported apples is also weak. The Grannys and Golden are still going well, but the market for bicolour apples is very week. The market for imported pears is also not good over the entire range. Avocados were hot, but are now also in a downward trend. The prices were around 9/10 Euro last week, but are now at 6 Euro.
