DSM has agreed to transfer its Teavigo brand EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate, the most abundant catechin in tea) green tea extract business to Taiyo Kagaku. Under terms of the deal, Taiyo will become the sole producer of Teavigo by the end of 2014.

Teavigo brand EGCG had previously been distributed under license by Pharmachem Laboratories in the dietary supplement segment and by DSM in the food and beverage segments. Under terms of the agreement, Taiyo will take responsibility for all customer segments, globally.

“DSM appreciates its historical relationship with Pharmachem on Teavigo and the great job they did in the dietary supplement segment”, said Will Black, VP marketing, and DSM Nutritional Products. “We are delighted that Taiyo have taken over the Teavigo business. Taiyo’s solid reputation, extensive product portfolio, knowledge of the market and global reach make them a perfect fit for the Teavigo business.”

During the transitional period, DSM said that it, Pharmachem and Taiyo will collectively work together to allow for an orderly transition for all Teavigo customers and are dedicated to assure an uninterrupted supply of Teavigo EGCG.
