Oasis, founded in 1975, provides a range of products such as edible oils, margarine, spreads, shortenings, vinegars, mayonnaise and sauces. It employs 160 people at Hillside, New Jersey, US, and had sales of SEK925m ($128.89m) in 2011.

According to AAK, Oasis represents an excellent platform for AAK's North American ambitions.

AAK president and CEO Arne Frank said the company´s wide variety of established food service products and brands significantly broadens AAK's product offerings in North America.

"This acquisition is an integral part of AAK Acceleration and adds capabilities in areas identified as strategically important. The convenient New Jersey location provides easy access to some of the largest population centers in the country," Frank added.

Anthony Alves, Oasis Foods Company's president will continue as President of Oasis with AAK.

The acquisition is expected to have only limited impact on 2012 AAK operating profit.

AAK has production facilities in Denmark, Mexico, the Netherlands, Sweden, Great Britain, Uruguay and the US. The company is organised in three business areas: chocolate and confectionery fats, food ingredients and technical products & feed.
