Plenty of leisure drives Indian seasonings, dressings & sauces market

The report 'Consumer Trends in the Seasonings, Dressings & Sauces Market in India, 2011' observed that the Indians having more than seven hours of leisure have held the major market value share of 36% during 2011 over others.

Interestingly, the time poor consumers who average between one to three hours of leisure time per day stood next the time rich group with close to 32% share.

Among the various trends, the survey found that the changing age structures to be influencing Indians with more than 37% citing its impact over their overall consumption of seasonings, dressings & sauces.

Changing lifestages and better value for money have followed next with about 34% and 31% respectively.

Segment-wise, herbs, spices & seasonings has led the Indian market with a significant 44% market value share in 2011, while the remaining market value was shared by chutneys & relishes, condiments and dressings.

A similar order of share was observed even in volume terms, where of herbs, spices & seasonings accounted for about 54%, according to Canadean.

Kids & babies have held the leading market value share of about 21% among other age groups,

Among the educated groups, post-graduates have constituted the highest share of close to 37%, followed by under graduates at 18% and others.

Affluent Indians held a leading share of about 39% during 2011, while the group hard pressed for income, interestingly, stood second with 29%.

According to report, branded products still dominate the Indian seasonings, dressings & sauces market.
