ABF Ingredients plans to build a 70,000-square-foot facility in Evansville that will expand the manufacturing capacity of its business unit PGP International, a processor of extruded ingredients, rice-based functional ingredients, as well as rice flours and blends.

“We are making a significant investment in Evansville to better serve our customers and the people who enjoy their products,” said Nicolas Hanson, chief executive officer of PGP International. “The new facility increases our production capacity, a need we anticipate based on strong growth in recent years.

“It will protect us and our customers by providing a back-up for our California plant, and extends our current capabilities to new product lines. Being in Evansville will also put us closer to customers in the eastern and midwestern U.S.”

The company plans to invest $16 million in the new facility and it anticipates initial production will begin in the summer of 2013.
