Caldic, a distributor and producer of food ingredients and chemicals, has successfully completed the acquisition of Sollaari Oy in Finland, expanding its business in the Nordic and Baltic food ingredients markets.

Caldic and Sollaari will integrate their activities, enabling the company to offer a wider product portfolio and extend the range of value added services offered to its customers in the food, feed and pharma industries. This acquisition, said Caldic, emphasises its strong commitment to the food industry.

Sollaari is a supplier of specialty food ingredients for the Nordic and Baltic food markets. The company has years of experience in the food industry and an extensive network.

“This combination between Sollaari’s experience within the Nordic and Baltic markets and Caldic’s global position in the food industry will bring advantages for both our customers,” said Timo Solin, director of Sollaari Oy.

Caldic’s core business is the distribution of food ingredients and chemicals. After the acquisition of Nealanders in October 2012, the company now employs approximately 1,100 people and is located in Europa, Asia and North America. In recent years the company has demonstrated a strong focus on growing its food ingredients business. Currently the sales of food ingredients represents 45% of the total sales of the company.

“This acquisition underlines our mission to be a leading, global, inspiring and reliable partner with innovative and effective ingredient solutions for the food industry”, said Olav van Caldenborgh, CEO of Caldic. “This strategic step will extend our expertise and network in the Nordic and Baltic markets. The acquisition will directly contribute to the results of Caldic and emphasizes our vision of thinking globally while acting locally.”
