A continuation of a program that began in 2011, CP Kelco has now fully implemented an integrated Global Quality Improvement and Food Safety Initiative, culminating in third party audit certifications by GFSI. As required by this initiative, minimum mandatory quality and regulatory standards have been established and installed for all facilities and employees. The standards are designed to elevate the commitment to quality and food safety and have been validated by external audits.

“CP Kelco operates to one global quality standard; meaning anywhere in the world our products are manufactured or shipped, they meet an industry-leading quality standard,” said Gary Jansen, Director, Global Quality Management Systems and Regulatory Affairs.

“Our systems are in place and designed to protect ourselves, our customers and end consumers.” Because of CP Kelco’s global reach, the company is making a significant investment in understanding, anticipating and responding to regulatory requirements of different countries and end markets. “GFSI is new to many customers, and is a new set of requirements that the global food industry is adopting.

Many large and multinational consumer products companies have asked for this, so we are being proactive in taking all facilities to this level,” according to Jansen. The GFSI program provides a framework for a system of independent certifications that ensures a supplier’s food safety and prerequisite programs for food production comply with international and domestic food safety regulations.

This enables suppliers to assure customers that food and the ingredients used have been produced, processed, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards, at all levels of the supply chain. Food safety applies to all foods and all manufacturing, processing, packaging and storage facilities.

“CP Kelco has always been a leader in the hydrocolloid industry. We believe this new certification illustrates our long lasting commitment to quality and innovation. Our goal is to keep improving and earn the trust from our customers,” quotes Didier Viala, Vice President, CP Kelco Global Innovation.
