The Chinese tomato paste market is a fascinating one if export figures are anything to go by. Exports to Italy, its main market, fell dramatically in 2012 to just 62 183 tonnes in 2012.

This is probably as a result of a very poor tomato crop in China and a good crop in Italy. Italy's share of the Chinese tomato paste market now stands at just 5.8%.
