The certifications were awarded to the plantation management units Syarimo Grouping and Landang Sabah Grouping, on the 20th of March and the 3rd of April respectively. Both certificates are valid for the next five years. To date, 83% of the IOI palm oil mills and 74% of the plantation estates have been RSPO certified.
As of FY 2012, the IOI group is listed as the second top Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) producer in Malaysia, contributing 14% to the total Malaysian CSPO volume. The IOI group targets 100% RSPO certification by 2013 in order to meet the on-going growth in the use of sustainable palm oil in Europe and the United States.
