Australian frozen food manufacturer Patties Foods Ltd (Patties Foods) has announced the appointment of Mark Smith as a Non-executive Director and Chairman of the Board, following the retirement of Christopher Riordan.

Mr Smith has extensive global experience in the manufacturing and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors across Australasia, the US, the UK and the Asia Pacific.

He is a Non-executive director of Australian transport and logistics company Toll Holdings Ltd and consumer and industrial products group GUD Holdings Ltd, and past Chairman of Manassen Foods Group.

Mr Smith was the Managing Director of Cadbury Schweppes Australia and New Zealand from 2003 to 2007, and held senior management positions with the Company in Australia, the UK and North America over his 16 years there. Before joining Cadbury Schweppes, Mr Smith held senior marketing positions with Unilever and Uncle Toby’s.

In February 2013, Australian Food News reported that Patties Foods seemed to be losing their share of the frozen foods market because of private label discounting in supermarkets.
