Domino’s Pizza Group has reported 11.7% increase in system sales to £147.6m in the second quarter (Q2) ended 30 June 2013 compared to £132.2m in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Like-for-like sales increased 6.1% for the quarter, against 8.1% in 2012. Online sales jumped by 63.3% of UK delivered sales for the first half.

For the first half, like-for-like sales were 6.4%.

The chain opened ten new stores in second quarter and 15 stores in first half across the UK.

System sales in the Republic of Ireland have risen by 5.1% to €12.1m, while in Switzerland sales grew to CHF3.3m ($3.4m).

Domino's Pizza CEO Lance Batchelor said the company has witnessed strong growth in UK and Ireland like-for-like sales.

"In Germany, as in the UK, our franchisees run great stores. Corporate stores have allowed us to test menus, develop marketing plans and understand the German consumer - but now that the ground work is done, it is time to drive our German expansion using our tried and tested franchise model," Batchelor added.

"We know the best way to get great results from stores is to put them in the hands of franchisees - and with five world-class franchisees now operating stores in the German market and more arriving shortly, we are excited about the future in this fledgling territory."

Domino's Pizza owns, operates and franchises Domino's Pizza stores in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Luxembourg.

As of 30 June 2013, Domino's Pizza operates 825 stores in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Germany and Switzerland.
