Irvin and JohnsonSouth African seafood processor Irvin and Johnson (I&J) is revamping its on-shore fish-processing in Cape Town with Marel equipment.

The complete processing solution includes cooling, a gentle handling in-feed system, a new 28-station trimming line, I-Cut 22 PortionCutter, targetBarcher and Innova software modules including Innova Yield Control, Innova Trimming and Innova Packing.

I&J staff visited Marel in Iceland in October, along with staff from Marel’s South Africa office to take part in training for the new equipment. Marel also hassled I&J’s last major renovations 15 years ago.

The equipment will be installed in the next few weeks during the Christmas/New Year period.
