New Zealand is a large exporter of fresh fruit to China. Imported fruit from New Zealand can be ready for sale in China within 48 hours after picking. “Picking and packaging takes 13 hours. Transport to Guangzhou by plane takes another 24 hours. Bringing the fruit from the airport to shops in Zhongshan takes less than 4 hours”, according to manager Kecheng Zhu from Guo Gu Trade Company.

Guo Gu Trade Company cooperates with supermarket and online retailer 828 Fresh Fruit. 828 Fresh Fruit currently sells Red Rose apples from Moffett Orchards in New Zealand. With their cooperation the companies manage to take off two to three days shipping time compared to traditionally imported fruits to local markets.
