Berry Brothers started selling blueberries from Northern Portugal in mid-May. "The supply and quality were good, as well as the demand. We are seeing that the area is growing and therefore increasing supply is coming from Portugal," says Nijs van Zullen. "We started with the Dutch blueberries in the first week of June, growing them under tunnels. Demand, supply, quality and prices are good. I expect more pressure on the market at the end of next week due to supply from other countries."

Red currants
"In early May we started with the Dutch red currants from our own greenhouse. The season started well and is still going well. On July 20th we will start harvesting Rovada. Rolan and Junifer will be done then. Most of the Rovada's will end up in the ULO cells so that we will have red currants available until mid-April 2016," says the grower.

Tulameen raspberries/blackberries
Demand for Tulameen raspberries has been good, most of them are sold on a program basis at supermarkets. This week we are harvesting the last raspberries. Then we will begin with the fall raspberries at the end of August (Kwanza, Kweli), until around mid-October," says Nijs. We have had good demand for the blackberries with a decent price over the last five weeks. Unfortunately the good price and demand stagnated last week and the prices are currently well below cost price. We hope and expect the demand and price to recover."
