US-based doughnut chain Krispy Kreme is all set to open its first outlet in Moscow on 12 September, in collaboration with Russian restaurateur and franchise partner Arkady Novikov.

The 300m² outlet is slated to open in Nikolskaya Street, just behind Moscow's famous Gum Shopping Arcade and Red Square. It will offer an assortment of iced, glazed, and filled doughnuts, as well as an array of coffees and espressos, teas and iced beverages.

The store opening is part of a development agreement signed by Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation with LLC Doughnuts Cafe, wholly owned and operated by Arkady Novikov, owner of the Novikov Restaurant Group, in April 2012.

As part of this agreement, LLC Doughnuts Cafe will build 40 Krispy Kreme shops in the city of Moscow.

Krispy Kreme CEO and President James Morgan said with an expanding presence of over 540 locations in 21 international markets, Krispy Kreme has experienced dramatic international growth over the last seven years.

Krispy Kreme is on an expansion spree with recent outlets in Edinburgh and Bangalore, and a new Singapore location planned for later this year. The company is also scouting for opportunities in Central and South America.

Krispy Kreme is an international retailer of sweet treats, including its signature Original Glazed(R) doughnut. Presently, it operates over 785 outlets in 21 countries around the world, with Russia soon to be added to the list.
