Native to South Asia, the kumquat belongs to the citrus family of plants. These fruits are rich in antioxidants and are known to boost your immunity. They are also associated with lower cancer risk. According to an article, kumquats prevent accumulation of cholesterol: Peel of kumquat’s fruit contain two flavonoids namely neocriocitin and poncirin. They help in preventing high cholesterol level in the blood. Being rich in fiber, kumquats can make you feel full for a longer duration and bring about a feeling of satisfaction. Finally, they are low in calories: The low calorie count in kumquat’s fruit make it a perfect food for those looking to shed those extra kilos.
