The People's Committee of central southern Phu Yen Province is planning to ban aquaculture in the Vung Ro area of Dong Hoa District.

The plan is that the 1,460-ha zone will be turned into a sea port, reports VNS. Around 460 farmers who currently have fish farms in the area will have to stop their business before October 2013.

Poor management has been clamed for the huge ammount of farms that have appeared in the area.
