The first harvest of the season for the “Yediveren” fig has started in Turgutlu, Manisa, a city located in western Turkey. The variety is famous for having 7 harvesting period in one year and it is exported to many countries. The sale price at the grower is around 0.60 USD per kg and the production numbers appear very promising for the upcoming season. High quality products are separated during harvest for export markets where the prices go up as high as 2.5 USD per kg.

Local growers pointed out that this particular variety started to get recognition in the export markets as well and that the most of the export demand is in Germany and Russia. They have also suggested that some steps need to be taken to trademark this variety which could provide additional marketing value for growers.
