Fonterra is to hold a community recruitment day as part of its drive to recruit 90 new employees for its new UHT milk processing site at Waitoa.

UHT operations manager, Donald Lumsden, said the 90 positions range across a broad spectrum of roles and will provide opportunities for applicants from a range of backgrounds with different skills and experience.

“We are really proud to be able to create these employment opportunities and offer our training and development programmes to the communities we work in. It’s all about helping our employees and their communities to thrive,” said Lumsden.

Fonterra is investing more than $100 million dollars in Waitoa’s new UHT milk processing site that will increase the co-operative’s UHT production by 100% over the next few years. Products from the new plant will be bound for markets in Asia.

The site is expected to produce its first product in March 2014, with some positions becoming available from late 2013.
