Organic produce is also doing well with consumers, who increasingly buy organic. Currently, governments are supporting 46 projects intended to stimulate ecological farming, involving 88,000 farmers and a total of 39 million R$.

The technical qualification of young growers and experts has been given priority status by Asistencia Técnica y Extensión Rural (Ater). By 2015, over 100,000 people are expected to be active in the bourgeoning sector.
