The reason is alleged high content of harmful microorganisms.

The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision petitioned Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and expressed its concern about increase of microbial contamination detected in the Vietnamese fish and other products entering the Russian market.

As reported by Rosselkhoznadzor, Fedotov blogged, laboratory monitoring showed presence of of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms, coliforms or listeria in certain shipments of iridescent shark fillets, cuttlefish, minced surimi, black shrimp and dried fish.
