The Department of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs has set regulations on fishing for shrimp in 2013.

The total Norwegian quota of shrimp is set to 3513 tons, 1533 tons in the North Sea and 1980 tonnes in Skagerrak.

As negotiations with the EU on a bilateral quota agreement is not concluded, the Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs established an interim regulation. The regulations may be adjusted when a quota agreement with the EU is agreed.

Regulations for the current year is taken forward in 2013. The total quota can be fished over three periods. In the first period ended 30 April, 40 per cent of the total quota fish. In the next two periods, from 1 May to 31 August and 1 September to 31 December, 30 per cent of the total quota was fished in each of the periods.

Maximum quota for the individual vessels are set to 24 tonnes in the first period and 18 tons in each of the next two periods.

Vessels under 20 meters in overall length may continue to fish within a guaranteed quantity of seven tons in each of the three periods, even if the period quota has been taken.
