Fast food giants McDonalds have said they have no plans to close any of their restaurants in the town, following an application to build a third takeaway.

The plans propose a drive-thru on Chalon Way, close to The Range on the former Tesco site and near to restaurants on Church Street and St Helens Linkway.

The proposed building would have two storeys, providing 85 seats and parking for 59 cars. It will also bring a number of jobs to the town. Access would be via Chalon Way.

A spokesperson from McDonalds said: “I can confirm that we have submitted our application to build a new restaurant in St Helens.

"A new McDonald’s will mean a significant investment and bring around 65 new full and part-time jobs to the local area. We currently have no plans to close our existing St Helens restaurants.”
